Intentional Communion I: Saṅkalpita Saṃvāda
Form: Intentional Communion I
Sanskrit: संकल्पित संवाद
Saṅkalpita Saṃvāda
Intentional / vowed communion or dialogue
saṅkalpa = intention, sacred resolve
saṃvāda = dialogue, communion, mutual exchange
Do you want to blow your friend or partner's mind a little, next time you see them?
Try this form.
See, when we aren't communing intentionally, we are letting our egos relate on our behalf.
When we do, automaticity (habit energy) runs the show. Discursive thoughts, distractions, past conditioning, and quick-witted reactions can dominate our connection which leaves ourselves and the other unseen, unfelt, and unconnected with.
This form is a shift from automaticity to intentionality.
Here's how you enter this form:
1) Give yourself permission to slow down. You are using more of your full capacity, which requires more slowness at first.
2) Let nothing pass through you unobserved.
3) Let nothing unchosen come from you. (Death to the automatic)
4) Shift from awareness to attentiveness by getting your heart consciousness involved.
5) Get your body consciousness involved by becoming aware of your intuitional energy. (your body’s felt-sense energetic responsiveness).
6) Stay present by attending to all that is happening in yourself while you attend to the other with all 3 dimensions (aspects) of your consciousness.
Mind for awareness, Heart for regard, Body for energy perception or “feeling response”
Notice that your heart center can both perceive and receive information. The heart is on a search for beauty. Not physical but metaphysical beauty. Beauty in the form of virtue (kindness, compassion, empathy, allocentrism, etc.).
What does it feel like to attend with the qualities of a present heart?
Notice that your body always tells you the truth: about the energy impact of your thoughts, your feelings, your attitude, your beliefs, and whatever anyone you're connecting with is broadcasting to you. The body is its own medium of consciousness. An instrument that registers the relational reality of any given moment.
What is it like to attend with the full presence of the body? Feeling the sense of yourself as a breathing belly, an open heart, and a still mind.
Stay self-possessed. Stay anchored fully in the felt-sense experience of your whole body/mind instrument. An instrument of perception, reception, enteroception, and broadcast.
Stay present to the openness of your response-ability.
Once you’ve gotten good at the first part of this practice, here’s the second part which really enhances the energetic connection:
See, awareness only has one quality: ‘aware’, from the perspective of the mind. Shifting from simply aware to attentive is a shift into intentional communion. Unlike awareness, attending can have a multitude of qualities: presence, supportive energy, confidence, gratitude, playfulness, which we can choose to broadcast within the connection intentionally.
When you are trying this form, when you are settled into it, choose the energy of support by broadcasting supportive energy from your heart and your body. Do so as if you can't speak and the only way you can communicate support is via the energy from your heart-center and body alone.
When we choose an energy such as supportiveness, our soul takes the position of master and the ego, the silent servant. Energy is a felt-sense experience of NOW so it keeps us present when we utilize it in how we relate.
They will feel you and respond to you differently. Go ahead, ask them.
This is meaningful, positive influence.
Namaste
Support the Work
Relationship Yoga is a living offering. We share practices, guidance, and ceremony across communities because we believe relational healing is essential for collective evolution.
Much of this work — both within Relationship Yoga and across our broader projects devoted to raising consciousness — is offered freely. Behind what is visible is a great deal of unseen devotion: travel, production, ceremony support, community care, and creative labor that is often unpaid and self-funded.
Cory and Cass have invested deeply, financially and energetically, to support global initiatives, local communities, and accessible teachings.
If you feel resonance with this work and wish to support its growth — and the birthing of future offerings — your donation helps sustain not just this platform, but the wider ecosystem of consciousness-centered projects we are stewarding.
Your support makes accessibility possible. This is an invitation into reciprocity.
